About the Author Andrea Stephenson

Born and raised in the vibrant heart of New York City, Andrea Stephenson’s story begins in Harlem—first in the projects on 112th Street and Park Avenue, and later in Esplanade Gardens. Her heritage reaches back to the West Indies, with ancestral ties to St. John, St. Croix, and St. Thomas in the former Danish Virgin Islands—history that continues to shape her pride and perspective.

Andrea grew up in a close, loving household grounded in discipline, compassion, and faith. The support of her parents and grandparents helped shape the strength and grace she carries today. As a teen, she served as a youth counselor with Harlem Youth Opportunities Unlimited (HARYOU), planting early seeds of service and leadership.

After graduating high school, Andrea began working in the financial sector before joining Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, where she built a distinguished 35-year career. For 10 of those years, she served as the assistant to Dr. James D. Watson, Nobel Laureate and co-discoverer—with Dr. Francis Crick—of the double-helix structure of DNA, one of the greatest scientific breakthroughs of the 20th century. Andrea later became the Laboratory’s Course Registrar, supporting international scientific programs and ensuring operational excellence for visiting scholars and graduate students worldwide.

Andrea and her husband, Ron, married in 1971 and raised two children—Ronnie Jr. and Shana Renée. She is also a proud grandmother to Ace and Caan and grateful for her daughter-in-law, Jaime.

Now retired in North Carolina, Andrea is known as a devoted prayer warrior, a warm neighbor, and an encouraging presence in multiple Bible study communities. She enjoys reading, hosting family gatherings, and playing golf—an activity she and Ron joyfully share at their local club.

P.R.A.Y. is her first co-authored book, offered with love, faith, and a desire to strengthen others in their walk with Christ.

About The Author Ron Stephenson

Born and raised in Mount Vernon, New York, Ron L. Stephenson, Sr. grew up in a close-knit family that valued discipline, humility, and community. From his youth—whether playing Boys Club sports, Little League, or neighborhood sandlot games—Ron was someone others naturally turned to for guidance. Even as a young boy, he offered support and encouragement to those around him, a quiet mentoring spirit that continues today, expressed through presence, listening, and genuine care rather than any desire for attention or recognition.

Ron later earned a master’s degree from NYU Tandon School of Engineering, where he studied technology with additional concentrations in finance and eBusiness. This foundation equipped him for a distinguished career that spans banking, healthcare consulting, and entrepreneurship. Over the years, he has served as president of three different businesses, each reflecting his commitment to strong leadership, strategic thinking, and operational excellence.

Ron and his wife, Andrea, married in 1971 and raised two children—Ronnie Jr. and Shana Renée. He is a proud grandfather to Ace and Caan and grateful for his daughter-in-law, Jaime. Family remains at the center of everything he does.

In 2014, Ron and Andrea relocated to North Carolina and joined Watts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church four years later. Ron actively participates in several Bible study programs, including the 1820 Fellowship, where he engages deeply with scripture, thoughtful reflection, and authentic fellowship. His steady leadership and grounded perspective help cultivate meaningful community among those he fellowships with.

P.R.A.Y. is his first co-authored book with Andrea—a shared offering rooted in devotion, perseverance, and a desire to help others deepen their walk with Christ.

ABOUT STEPHENSON WORD SMITH

PRAY people praying around the world

Each day, more hearts join us in prayer. There are 8.3 billion people in the world, and we pray for every one. Will you be part of this growing circle and stand with us in prayer and support today?

The name Stephenson Wordsmith reflects our identity and our purpose. It is drawn from our shared family name, Stephenson; Andrea’s maiden name, Smith; and our lifelong passion for writing. Together, these elements form a legacy-driven commitment to creating and sharing words that uplift, inspire, and honor God.

Stephenson Wordsmith was created with a clear purpose: to encourage people everywhere to share their stories of faith—stories of God’s guidance, protection, mercy, and love. What began with Ron and Andrea Stephenson’s personal writing journey has grown into a mission to help others recognize and celebrate how God is moving in their lives.

At the heart of Stephenson Wordsmith is the belief that testimonies matter. Every story of prayer answered, strength restored, or hope renewed becomes light for someone else. These moments remind us that God is present, active, and faithful in every season. Ron and Andrea desire to see individuals, families, and communities embrace the courage to speak openly about their walk with God so that others may be encouraged and uplifted.

Because of this conviction, the Stephensons urge people to begin recording and chronicling their spiritual journeys—capturing the lessons, turning points, and blessings that might otherwise fade with time. These reflections become gifts that can be shared today and preserved for future generations. For this very reason, a journal was created to accompany P.R.A.Y.—a dedicated space designed to help readers document their prayers, growth, and personal testimony. We invite you to explore it. Just imagine: by this time next year, you could be holding your own written testimony, ready to share, inspire, or even publish for others to be blessed by your journey. As Jesus said in John 12:32, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” Every testimony lifts His name and becomes an invitation for others to draw near.

Stephenson Wordsmith envisions a space where Christians, Jews, Muslims, and all people of prayer who seek to honor and communicate with the one God can experience a sense of spiritual unity. Prayer has the unique power to bridge differences, soften hearts, build compassion, and draw humanity closer to God and to one another. When people pray with sincerity, hope rises and the presence of God becomes unmistakably near.

Through books, journals, creative projects, and community connections,

Stephenson Wordsmith invites believers from all backgrounds to join in this mission: to lift the name of the Lord, to honor His goodness, and to share stories that shine His light into the world. Every believer has a story worth telling—and every story has the power to bless someone searching for Him.

Your story is a seed. Plant it, share it, and let God use it to illuminate someone’s path.
